Highland Spiritual Cinema “Life is the movie you see through your own eyes.
It makes little difference what's happening out there,
it's how you take it that counts.” – Denis Waitley
Bringing together the screening of inspirational and uplifting documentaries, features and short films with the opportunity for discussion, Highland Spiritual Cinema creates a new way to nourish our spiritual self.
Each month, Highland Spiritual Cinema offers engaging films that touch hearts and souls, films that remind us of the truth of our spiritual nature as they reveal the magnificence of the human spirit.
The option of participating in a Discussion Group follows the screening of films.  Share what you enjoyed, what you didn’t enjoy, or anything else that came up for you.

About Spiritual Cinema...
Spiritual Cinema is a relative newcomer to the many distinctive film genre that can be found today.  It has grown out of the recognition by some individuals working within the film industry, of the disenchantment of an audience whose souls are weary of seeing violent distortions of humanity endlessly played out on cinema and television screens.  Spiritual Cinema attempts to bring together everybody who wishes to experience films that are inspiring, uplifting and empowering.

About The Spiritual Cinema Circle...
The founders and members of The Spiritual Cinema Circle celebrate a universal form of spirituality that transcends religious belief and other factors that often divide instead of unify people - a kind of spirituality that reveres the question more than the answer, one that embraces and accepts rather than judges and rejects.
For around £14.75 (price includes shipping) The Spiritual Cinema Circle will send you a new DVD every month with four films that include a mixture of features, shorts and documentaries that explore spirit, spirituality, existence, morality, compassion, the power of the mind, metaphysics and other enriching topics that take your personal journey further.

"We're in a free fall into future.  We don't know where we're going.  Things are changing so fast. And always when you’re going through a long tunnel, anxiety comes along.  But all you have to do to transform your hell into a paradise is to turn your fall into a voluntary act.  It’s a very interesting shift of perspective . . . Joyfully participate in the sorrows of the world and everything changes." Joseph Campbell (1904-1987)

Rob Bell is a gifted communicator who knows how to get his point across to a diverse audience.   Best selling author of Velvet Elvis: Repainting The Christian Faith, and Sex God: Exploring The Endless Connections Between Sexuality and Spirituality, Bell looks at the issues of spiritual growth in this recording from his 2006 speaking tour filmed at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Appearing from behind a curtain, Bell steps out in front of a large blank whiteboard that spans the width of the stage.  The crowd erupts in cheers and applause, before Bell tears right into what it is they are all there for.  He seems unconcerned with his own celebrity as he begins by looking at the ancient dichotomy of physical vs. spiritual, arguing that the Creation poem makes no such distinction.
EVERYTHING IS SPIRITUAL
As human beings, we are created both physical and spiritual.  “Every act we do is a spiritual act,” Bell states.  And as he calls his listeners to understand that God is not confined to a building or a particular hour of one day of the week, but rather God is omnipresent and infuses every interaction we have, everything is drenched with the presence of the divine.

In a small province in Thailand, Nop and Dao live with painful memories from the past.  Each has lost a parent, Nop, his father, and Dao, her mother.  Coincidentally, they are great fans of a radio show.  As one hears the other talk on air about the lost of a parent, they realise that they should meet.  The date and time are agreed upon.  On the fateful day, their radios' batteries die and each is desperate to get to the convenience store to replace them.
Through archival excerpts from his finest filmed lectures interwoven with exquisite images and evocative music from around the world, renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell takes us on a journey of transcendence and illumination, a trip through the mythological symbols and sagas left by our ancient forebears.  What is revealed en route is ‘mankind’s one great story’, the grand drama played out by all cultures on all continents since time immemorial.  This saga ‘projected’ on the screen of the universe is the mythic adventure that became Campbell’s ‘Sukhavati’, what he passionately embraced as his life’s work, his place of bliss.
Created by Maxine Harris and Sheldon Rocklin, with the enthusiastic support of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, this hypnotic and mesmerizing film is a deeply personal, almost spiritual, portrait of Campbell, told in his own words, in his twilight years, at the summit of his career and the apex of his intellectual powers.

With its breathtaking cinematography and mesmerising music, Baraka delivers an unforgettable collection of snapshots from the global family album.  Startling, powerful, and moving images portray the vastness and variety of nature, city life, sacred sites, rituals, and the shared distress of earth and humankind.  The images are carried into our consciousness and connected to our feelings by the soul-stirring music and sound collages of composer Michael Stearns.
Baraka is an ancient Sufi word, which can be translated as ‘a blessing’, or as the breath or essence of life from which the evolutionary process unfolds.
